The city subway line was finally opened on March 30 2008.
The Yokohama City new subway line, dubbed the “ Green Line”, started operation on March 30 2008. This line connects 10 stations between Hiyoshi station on the Tokyu Tohyoko line, located in the Kohhoku ward of Yokohama City, and Nakayama station on the JR Yokohama line in the Midori-ward in Yokohama City, while passing through the north-central station of Kohhoku New town and the south-central station. Traveling the full length of the line takes about 21 minutes.
At both north-central station and south-central station because the regular Yokohama City subway “Blue Line” connects each one, it has become more convenient for access to not only Yokohama and Azumino, but also Shibuya, Jijyugaoka, Machida and Sagamihara.
Especially surrounding the south-central station, which is the center of Kohhoku new town , the main facilities of Tsuzuki-ward are concentrated.
In front of the station there are many shopping facilities such as Tokyu department store and a shopping center. This modern planned town has been evolving day after day in order to provide an enjoyable environment to live in.

This department store opened in 1998, in a large scale shopping center, located in front of the south-central station. There are more than 60 stores, including not only 109 Cinemas movie theater, but also fashion shops, restaurants, grocery stores and electrical appliance stores.
These stores are open all year round. Business hours of S.C. specialty stores malls is 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and for Kohhoku Tokyu is 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Restaurants are open from 11:00 AM to 10: 00 PM.
